Varun Shimoga Prakash is a seasoned product manager with over 12 years of relevant experience in the technology industry. Currently, he is working as a Senior Product Manager at F5, where he is responsible for driving product strategy and innovation. Prior to joining F5, Varun worked at Lookout as a Product Manager, where he led a team of product managers and engineers to ensure the security of user and enterprise data on mobile devices. He was instrumental in addressing usability, deployment, and product activation related concerns of mobile device administrators, bringing valuable security features to enterprises and consumers through Lookout's flagship mobile endpoint security (MES) product. He also enabled ISV developers to easily embed and utilize Lookout's market-leading security coverage into iOS and Android applications through the App Defense SDK product. Varun's focus on building user-friendly, impactful security solutions and continuously improving them based on customer feedback, field metrics, and success indicators has made him a valuable asset to any team. Before Lookout, Varun worked at Samsung as a Staff Software Engineer, where he researched, designed, and developed solutions that enhanced OS platform security and holistic mobile device management of Samsung smartphones and tablet devices. He played a key role in engineering Knox device and data protection feature as part of the Android (Galaxy S range) and Tizen (Galaxy Watch) OS platforms. He also developed enhanced virtual private network (VPN) support for Samsung devices and implemented the Network Analytics platform in the Android framework and kernel to enable the collection of networking metadata on the device. His work on expanding enterprise deployment of smart devices such as wearables by implementing mobile device management software for Tizen-based Samsung Gear smartwatch devices was highly appreciated. Varun holds a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Science from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University. His technical skills include product management, mobile, Android, iOS, software engineering, senior software engineering, and research science.
