Varun Achar is a versatile engineer with a passion for creating systems that drive value. He is currently the Director of Engineering at Razorpay, where he manages multiple teams of the Platform and Tools unit. As part of this role, he is responsible for the developer platform and financial infrastructure groups, which include the Edge Platform, Observability, Test engineering, Messaging Platform, Microservice frameworks, FE frameworks, and Frontend tooling. Varun is also responsible for Engineering Branding at Razorpay. Before joining Razorpay, Varun was the founder of Trelta, a healthcare startup that was selected for the 3rd batch of startup accelerator VentureNursery, India's first angel-backed startup accelerator. He was also part of the core team at imlee.com, a startup incubated under Pebstone, and worked on one of the global top 150 mission-critical systems of JP Morgan, servicing billions of dollars worth of transactions daily. Varun's experience in the industry spans over 12.86 years, during which he has held various positions such as Senior Software Engineer, DevOps, product manager, Microservices, test, Javascript, Spring, Frontend, infra, Python, and Java. He was also one of the first five engineers at Treebo, where he led consumer-facing services, Engg Platform, and DevOps. Varun is a Bachelor of Technology graduate from vr siddhartha engineering college, where he studied Information Technology. He also attended air force school, bamrauli, allahabad, from where he completed his schooling. Overall, Varun is an all-round engineer with a diverse skill set and a track record of building successful systems. He is passionate about creating value and is always looking for new challenges to take on.
