Varun Agarwal is a Software Development Engineer at Amazon, currently working in the Recommerce and Sustainability division. He has been leading the expansion of Liquidations as a Service into several countries, which allows returned goods to extend their product lifespan and reduce the amount of waste generated. Varun has spearheaded cross-functional engineering efforts to expand Amazon’s Liquidation business to Canada and has architected detailed product design documents to address key customer pain points identified during the Canada expansion effort. He has also engineered a system to automate account creation using DynamoDB and AWS Lambda. Varun has engaged business and engineering counterparts to define business health metrics and prioritize more measurable success criteria in order to efficiently investigate customer pain points. Varun is currently a Fellow at climatebase, a climate career accelerator for the most talented, mission-driven members of the Climatebase community. As a Climatebase Fellow, he is learning from domain experts through interactive speaking sessions and panels, group discussions, and hands-on project-based work. Upon graduation, Fellows showcase their talent and knowledge by presenting their capstone projects and products on Demo Day to an audience of employers and investors. Varun is currently actively looking for Product Management roles in the climate and sustainability sector. Varun has worked as an Associate Data Scientist at Citi, where he redesigned and optimized the data pipeline (ETL) to enable scaling of a web application, using Google Cloud Platform. He sourced and visualized various metrics in order to inform place-based investing decisions and assisted general data science functions across Citi Venture Studio's projects. Varun has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
