Varun Sharma is a seasoned software manager and architect with extensive coding, design, development, and management experience. He is currently working as a Staff Software Engineer at Google, where he serves as the TLM (Technical Lead and Manager) for the Google Nest cameras cloud team. In this role, he is responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining the cloud solution that serves millions of active cameras, ingesting audio and video 24 x 7. Varun has designed and developed mission-critical systems such as Amazon ordering, Kindle store, and Google Nest camera cloud, operating at the highest scale, with utmost availability and reliability. Varun is an expert collaborator, working with product and leadership to set the vision and roadmap for the organization. He has defined and executed organizationally challenging, multi-year long projects and conducted over 500 interviews. Varun's past experience includes working as a Software Development Engineer III at Amazon, where he played multiple roles and worked across business verticals. He presented a think-big idea to Alexa shopping and digital content leadership, designed canonical RESTful purchase gateway for digital content acquisition, and worked with PMs to understand the points system in Japan and how Amazon can improve its point systems for digital customers. Varun has a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology and has relevant experience of over 11 years.
