Ved Patel is a skilled Software Engineer with a demonstrated history of working on software application development and systems programming in the computer networking industry. He is currently working as a Member of Technical Staff at VMware SD-WAN, where he has worked on SD-WAN Data plane modules of Dynamic path selection and IPSEC. Ved is proficient in C, C++, Python, Ruby on Rails, and Golang. In his current role at VMware, Ved has contributed to the Federal charter in the area of IKE/IPSEC and worked on IKE library migration to achieve FIPS compliance. He has also designed and developed logging infrastructure to provide centralized control over information printed and enable per peer debugging for the IKE/IPSEC module. Prior to joining VMware, Ved worked as a Software Engineer at Lavelle Networks, where he was responsible for application identification for enterprise network traffic using Golang. He added an API monitoring and validation layer for web service in Django and worked on SDN Controller backend micro-services in Django and Web App in Ruby on Rails. Ved developed a security module for the SDN Controller comprising of IPS/IDS in Django and built infrastructure and tools for simulations to ease development and testing of software. He also worked on the networking stack for Software Defined Networking, packet loss ratio calculation for a path, and dynamic path selection supporting application-aware path selection and per-packet load balancing at flow level. Ved mentored a team of interns during his time at Lavelle Networks. Ved has a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Penn State University and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science from SRM University. He has experience in software engineering, Ruby, infra, test, web, Django, microservices, backend, Golang, and Python.
