Venkatesh Chakravarthy is a highly experienced Director of Engineering with over 26 years of relevant experience in the tech industry. He is currently working at VMware, where he is the Director of Engineering for VMware Cloud. In this role, he is responsible for leading security and compliance engineering, as well as various infrastructural engineering initiatives, including enterprise integrations, network appliance engineering, and observability platform development. VMware Cloud is a platform that brings VMware's enterprise-class SDDC software to AWS, Azure, GCP, and several other cloud platforms, providing optimized access to the native underlying infrastructures offered by these disparate platforms. With VMC, organizations can modernize applications, enabling faster time-to-market and increased innovation while providing a faster, easier, and cost-effective path to the hybrid cloud. Prior to joining VMware, Venkatesh served as the Head of Core Platform, Cloud Platform Engineering at Symantec. In this role, he led the security identity, events, and master data platforms for Symantec Enterprise, deployed within an envoy-based service mesh architecture in a 200 node k8s/openshift AWS cloud. He also managed the transition from a VM-based service bus to a container-based service mesh architecture and re-engineered the identity service backbone, introducing various new features and optimizations leading to higher availability, scalability, agility in SRE operations, and more. Venkatesh also served as the Head of Engineering for Industrial & Automotive Anomaly Detection at Symantec, where he built and launched two cyber security analytics software from the ground up for automotive and Industrial Internet of Things (IoT). He designed algorithms in areas related to detecting state transition patterns, traffic periodicity determinations, determining network packet characteristics in protocol agnostic ways, SVM, and various ML algorithms. Venkatesh is a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in AWS, Azure, GCP, SRE, SVM, and ML. He has a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions and driving business growth through his technical leadership and strategic vision.
