Vibhu Kaushik is a seasoned electric utility executive with over 14 years of experience in the industry. He is currently the Director of T&D Inspections at Southern California Edison (SCE), where he oversees the execution of ground and aerial inspections programs for SCE's transmission and distribution assets over a 50,000 sq. mile territory. Vibhu has previously held several roles within SCE, including Director of T&D Business Strategy, Director of Grid Technology and Modernization, and Principal Manager of Asset Management and Generation Strategy. Vibhu is a proven leader in pursuit of grid modernization, digital transformation, and improved operational and financial utility performance towards an affordable clean energy future. He has led key organizational transformation initiatives, regulatory management functions, and performance management functions. Vibhu is also responsible for driving major maintenance and capital investment decisions to maximize returns for SCE's hydroelectric, natural gas, energy storage, and solar power plants. Vibhu is a registered professional engineer and has earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India, a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles - Anderson School of Management. He is also recognized as one of the "Top Forty Innovators" by Public Utilities Fortnightly magazine in 2017. Vibhu's expertise lies in AI, research science, ML, and infra. He has a relevant experience of 14.61 years and has worked with Manitoba Hydro in Canada before joining SCE. In his current role, Vibhu is leading an organization of approximately 700 employees and contractors managing O&M budgets of ~80 million and driving towards building more asset-centric and customer-centric inspections programs. He is also consolidating various inspections programs for efficiencies and effectiveness in data collection and sharing, building ML/AI capabilities towards automation, and leading to overall integrated comprehensive inspections programs approach for the future.
