Victor Tatai is a passionate software developer with over 15 years of experience building high-quality software. He specializes in high-performance distributed systems and is currently interested in Java, Scala, and Haskell. In a previous life, Victor was an AI and intelligent systems researcher. Currently, Victor is a Backend Developer - Volunteer at the ubiquitous computing lab, where he is responsible for developing a new COVID cough detection app. He is implementing UW ML research findings and is responsible for bootstrapping the backend's REST API using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and Cognito. Prior to this, Victor was the Tech Lead Manager of the Application Platform team at Google (Fitbit), where he defined and implemented the core framework used by all services across the Fitbit unit within Google. He was also a Senior Software Engineer at AppDirect, where he was responsible for implementing new features and fixing bugs. His main responsibilities included implementing new billing features on jBilling and integrating with Microsoft Office 365 API (MOSI). Victor holds an MSc in Computer Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas and a BSc in Computer Engineering from the same university. He also completed a Joint Grad. Honors Prog. in Computer Engineering from INSA Lyon - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon.
