Videsh Suman is an experienced Research Scientist with a focus on AI and Machine Learning. He is currently a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Maryland, where he is working on autonomous driving and risk assessment via traffic interaction modeling. Videsh has over 3 years of extensive R&D experience in leveraging AI/ML techniques for various applications, including semi-supervised learning, NLP, autoregressive models, reinforcement learning, climate, and ecology. Videsh has a strong academic background, having completed a Master of Science in Computer Science from the College of Information and Computer Sciences, UMass Amherst, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He has also completed relevant coursework in Intelligent Visual Computing, Advanced NLP, Software Engineering, Algorithms for Data Science, Graphical Models, Computer Vision, Applied Numerical Optimization, Advanced Machine Learning, Medical Imaging, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Machine Learning, Algorithm Analysis, Data Structures, and Algorithms. In his previous roles, Videsh has worked as a Graduate Grader for the course COMPSCI 688 - Probabilistic Graphical Models at the College of Information and Computer Sciences, UMass Amherst. He has also worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at the same institution, where he leveraged state-of-the-art computer vision and deep learning techniques to segment bird roosts in weather radar scans, as a part of the Dark Ecology project.
