Vijayarangan Vijayakumar is a highly experienced engineering leader with over 17 years of relevant experience in building and managing high-scale, highly available platform solutions. Currently, he serves as the Senior Director of Software Engineering at Salesforce, where he is responsible for building payment solutions for B2B, B2C, and QTC customers. Prior to this, he was responsible for the search platform for Commerce Cloud. Vijayarangan is an expert in breaking down monoliths into microservices using domain-driven design. He is also skilled in building and monitoring highly available, high-scale microservice applications and has experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Terraform, Helm Charts, Spinnaker, and Istio. As an empathetic leader, Vijayarangan is passionate about building strong relationships with the product organization and building roadmaps. He is enthusiastic, self-driven, accountable, and takes ownership of his services. He manages teams of software engineers and engineering managers. Vijayarangan's highlights include building the digital payments platform and Discovery Platform for Product Search, Content Search, and more. He has also built visual search and predictive sort capabilities for shopper search and has extensive experience in commerce storefront engineering, including PLP, PDP, campaigns, promotions, and site sales. He is also skilled in service ownership maturity and has experience in CI/CD, performance testing, monitoring, and support. Vijayarangan holds a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology from the University of Madras. He has worked with several companies in the past, including Salesforce, where he built Salesforce Payments from scratch, and built the Discovery Platform for Product Search and Content Search on the public cloud using AWS. He also has experience in AI/ML visual search and auto/predictive sort, which he implemented for storefront product display using machine learning.
