Vikas Veerabathini
Master’s student in Computer Engineering at Northeastern University | NITW
About
Vikas Veerabathini is a highly motivated and skilled Computer Engineer, currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Computer Engineering at Northeastern University. He has a brief stint of industrial experience working on Real-time operating systems and Virtualization. Vikas has a keen interest in exploring in-depth computer architecture and is always on the lookout for ways to learn more. Currently, Vikas is working as a Firmware Engineering Intern at Qualcomm, where he is designing and developing an Optimized Linked List Memory allocator in Qualcomm Instruction Units responsible for enhancing logging of New Radio (NR) Uplink Packets. It also includes analysis of profiling and performance metrics of the design. In the past, Vikas has worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Northeastern University, where he modified the Lightweight TrustZone Hypervisor to add virtualization for a Non-Secure World application with a switch to the secure world environment to run critical aspects of code. He also reviewed the spectre attack through normal operating systems and tried to interpolate the same on SecureOS. Vikas researched and explored about the Trustzone for ARM using zedboard and tried to see if there was a possibility of any further attacks on the trustzone that could extract the behavior of a secure environment. Vikas has also worked as a Firmware Engineer at Qualcomm, where he designed and developed a software interface for a newly brought-up Vector Unit Interconnect port, which would eventually provide a gateway for the transceiver chip to push the data from a cache on transceiver to RAM directly. He also designed and developed an Interrupt Service Routine and an optimized buffer management technique to perform a timely sniffing of transactions between transceiver and air-interface that would provide feedback on communication blocks involved in the transmission and reception of data for user equipment. Vikas also designed an automation tool which would read the critical properties of all tasks enqueued to a round-robin scheduler of Modem from a snapshot of memory dump. Pre-process the data and plot timelines of the same using jQuery. Vikas holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from NIT Warangal, and he is expected to complete his Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Northeastern University in 2020. He has relevant experience of 5.86 years and is proficient in Research Scientist.
