He is a highly skilled professional with a passion for fundamental research on machine learning and computer vision, grounded in mathematical understanding and intuition. With over 3.6 years of relevant experience, Vin has a proven track record of success in the field of AI and has worked with some of the leading companies in the industry. Vin's research interests are focused on the development of AI for healthcare/medicine, genomics, and drug discovery. He is currently working on generative vision models, self-supervised learning for image denoising, robust classifiers with max margin of some sort, and interpretability/explainability. Vin's expertise extends to AI, research scientist, supervised learning, mobile, computer vision, normalization, ML, object detection, and object detection. Before joining Borealis AI, Vin worked as a Research Engineer at Samsung AI Center, where he focused on computer vision with Prof. Allan Jepson and Dr. Alex Levinshtein on burst image enhancement and synthesis. He proposed a novel normalization for piecewise linear discriminators to improve generative image quality of GANs (WACV 2020) and conducted research on generative modeling and image synthesis, particularly GANs, and unsupervised blind super-resolution for digital zoom with an emphasis on real-time performance on mobile devices. Vin holds a Master of Science in Applied Computing from the University of Toronto, where he graduated in 2020. He also holds a Bachelor of Technology in Engineering Physics with a minor in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, where he graduated in 2016.
