Vincent Laurense is a Senior Software Engineer at Zoox, specializing in motion planning and control for autonomous vehicles. With over 10 years of relevant experience, Vincent has worked extensively on developing nonlinear optimal control frameworks for real-time vehicle control with a long planning horizon. He has also led the development and deployment of a next-generation autonomous race car in collaboration with Volkswagen Group Research. Prior to his current role, Vincent was a PhD candidate and graduate Research Assistant at Stanford University's Dynamic Design Lab, where he conducted research on motion planning and control for an autonomous race car. He developed a framework for using the full tire-force potential of the vehicle and implemented it in real-time vehicle control. During his time at Stanford, Vincent also worked on developing and deploying an autonomous race car in the lab. Before Stanford, Vincent worked as a Race Engineer for the Stuart Racing Team, preparing for the Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Junior championship. He has also completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, a Master of Science (MSc) in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology, and an Honors Program Master in Automotive Dynamics & Safety from Delft University of Technology. Vincent also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology and a VWO gymnasium (pre-university) degree from Emmauscollege Rotterdam.
