Vincenzo Marcella is a passionate Software Engineer with a focus on system architecture and data science. He currently works at Microsoft as a Software Engineer for Azure Linux, where he is responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing the provisioning components that deploy millions of various Linux distributions to Azure per day. Vincenzo also contributes upstream to open source projects related to provisioning operating systems and virtualization, such as cloud-init. In his role, Vincenzo collaborates with multiple teams throughout Azure to measure the key areas of the platform that can be immediately improved and acted upon for providing better experiences to customers. He creates effective strategies and tooling for collecting, analyzing, and storing data about platform components to maximize the signal of the metrics used for making business decisions. Vincenzo is constantly learning about and working with all the components that piece together Azure's complex virtualization and virtual machine tech stack. Before his current role, Vincenzo was a Software Engineer for the Azure Portal team and a Software Engineer Intern for the Azure Linux team at Microsoft. During his time at Microsoft, he worked on improving and standardizing the Frontend and Backend container build processes for multiple different services, designing, developing, and deploying two HTTP/socket-based services in Typescript, and updating an internal C++ framework to expose Typescript bindings for the services that he implemented. Vincenzo holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Make School, where he graduated in 2020. He also holds an Advanced Regents Diploma from Carmel High School. Vincenzo's technical skills include Software Engineering, Azure, Typescript, Data Science, UI, Frontend, Backend, and Web.
