Vinod Uddaraju is a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with over 18 years of experience in building innovative data-intensive backend systems from scratch and scaling them to millions of users. Currently working at Netflix, Vinod has built complex backend systems that are currently being used by over 100 million users. Vinod has a strong background in software engineering and has worked with a variety of technologies including Cassandra, Ruby, Image Processing, Redis, Kafka, Microservices, Postgres, and Scala. He has also played a key role in migrating existing API’s from a legacy monolithic backend to a micro-services based backend built on top of a high performant JVM based stack. The migration was done with no downtime and no stability issues. Vinod has worked with several companies in the past including a9.com and wrap.co, where he held senior software engineering and platform engineering roles respectively. At wrap.co, Vinod built and scaled the backend for wrap personalization from scratch using Scala, Akka, Cassandra, and Kafka. He also designed and implemented a data model on Cassandra supporting very high write throughput while serving millions of personalized wraps with low latency.
