Vipan K. is a highly skilled technology leader with over 13 years of experience working with globally distributed teams across large organizations and start-ups. Currently on sabbatical and working on personal projects, Vipan has previously held leadership positions at renowned companies such as Maersk and Expedia, where he has demonstrated his expertise in building and managing tech teams, running a multi-function portfolio, attracting and developing the best talent, and driving tech strategy and vision. With a strong background in programming languages such as Java, Golang, Dart, JS, Swift, C, and Kotlin, Vipan is also well-versed in web and cloud technologies such as microservices, REST, gRPC, GraphQL, AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes. He has extensive experience in data engineering, including data lakes and warehouses, data modeling, and both relational and NoSQL databases. Vipan is also highly skilled in product management, including roadmaps, MVPs, metrics, and prioritization, and has expertise in SRE, high-performance system design, domain-driven design, and multi-tenancy. Currently serving as the Head of Platform at Maersk, Vipan has led a global team of engineers, engineering directors, and program leads for the company's warehousing and distribution platform within the logistics and services group. He has executed the plan for building a futuristic platform for the W&D business, which focused on W&D business capabilities over the off-the-shelf product offerings used in the past. In his previous roles, Vipan has served as the Engineering Lead at Shuttle, where he helped solve for a sustainable and clean solution for multiple commute types, and as the Director of Technology at Expedia, where he led a team comprising of iOS, Android, and API developers and multiple EMs and TPMs. He helped deliver the transition from REST APIs to GraphQL for multiple shopping LOBs and worked as an evangelist for the company's internal tech strategy, promoting the use of GraphQL-based APIs to increase cohesiveness across platforms (desktop, PWA, and native apps).
