Viraj Kumar Dewangan is a highly skilled Data Scientist with over 4.5 years of experience in Finance and Engineering Data Scientist roles. Currently, he is working as a Data Scientist Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate with RIPE Thinking Ltd. and the University of Salford Manchester UK. He has a Master’s degree in Data Science with a merit 2:1 degree from the University of Essex batch of 2020. Prior to his Master's degree, he completed an MBA in Finance and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani Goa. Viraj has a diverse range of expertise and interests in Insurance Analytics and Data Science, Natural Language Processing, Time Series Analysis, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Cryptocurrency, Algorithms Research, and Design. He has worked with various companies in the past, including AssetVault, where he was responsible for setting up an Elastic Search system for Enterprise search for legal clients. He also architected a Machine Learning Pipeline deployed on AWS cloud to carry out early case analysis using legal documents as inputs and a Python backend to perform Timeline Analysis, Named Entity Recognition. He built a Custom Sentiment Analysis pipeline for a piece of text to determine the polarity and subjectivity of the text. He also built a Q/A system using the BERT model to get answers for questions and transcribed Audio clips for text processing. Furthermore, he developed PDF and Word Documents Analysis Pipeline. Before working with AssetVault, Viraj worked with Nomura Services India Private Limited (Nomura Holdings Inc.) as a Fixed Income Analyst- Structured Deals Review- Product Control Team. He was responsible for carrying out Deals Reviews for Structured Derivative Products like Interest Rate Swaps, Bonds, Options, TARF, GTARF, and other Over The Counter (OTC) financial products. He assisted in the creation of tools, coordination with sector teams, and evaluation of external alternative data vendors. He also interfaced with data vendors, internal equity research teams, internal sales and trading personnel, and institutional investors. Viraj has a strong educational background, which includes a Master of Science in Data Science from the University of Essex, a PGDM in Finance from Birla Institute of Management Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.
