Viral Kamdar is an expert Cloud Native and DevOps Architect with over 20 years of experience in building and designing scalable products from ground up at Enterprise Level. He is a polyglot developer having worked extensively in Golang and Java. Currently, he is the Principal Software Engineer at Acquia, leading the Cloud Edge Team in designing the placement of products like Load Balancers, Kubernetes Ingress Controllers, External DNS, Certificate Manager. Viral has extensive experience in technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, GoLang, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Argo Workflows, Nginx, Ingress Controllers, Helm, AWS Load Balancers, AWS EC2, AWS Route 53, SumoLogic, and Prometheus. As a technical leader of Acquia’s Cloud Edge team, his responsibilities include leading a team for design and development of Kubernetes operator required for sending messages to message broker to update the external address of Kubernetes resources, architecting and designing the deployment process of Kubernetes Nginx Ingress Controller in AWS managed Elastic Kubernetes Cluster (EKS) serving thousands of requests per second, performing task estimation and capacity planning for various projects, leading discussions with various stakeholders consuming the Cloud Edge services, and performing Proof of Concept demos to architecture review board to get a sign-off for the designs. Prior to working at Acquia, Viral has worked as a Consulting Member of Technical Staff at Oracle, where he was involved in the design and development of various components of Sauron-operator which is a Kubernetes operator written in GoLang. He also set up CI/CD for open-source libraries customized for Sauron’s need, monitored the health and statistics of instances of various customers, and responded to outages. He has also worked in Accenture as a Software Engineer, where he was involved in the development of Delegate classes used in the Settlement module and writing unit test cases for the same. Viral holds a B.E in Computer Science from Maharaja Sayaji Rao University of Baroda and a Diploma in Advanced Computing from CDAC Hyderabad. He also attended Birlasagar Higher Secondary School. He has a strong tech stack that includes Software Engineering, AWS, Kubernetes, Golang, Jenkins, DevOps, Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD, Docker, Elastic Search, UI, Infra, Test, Javascript, and Java.
