Vishal Mishra is a highly motivated Software Engineer with a diverse set of experiences gained from working with various startups. He is currently working at Meta as a Software Engineer (Production) where he has deployed Osquery on FB’s fleet of servers and laptops using Chef to increase coverage and protection for critical vulnerabilities. Vishal has also added network scanning in cloud (AWS) using Tsunami Scanners, added Docker image scanning capabilities using Trivy for Facebook’s AWS Infrastructure. He has experience in managing vulnerability assets data using Hadoop, orchestrating jobs using pipelines, and working with Facebook’s internal equivalents of Kafka and Kubernetes. Vishal has built a new matching system in Golang as part of the Vulnerability Management team that reduced the false positives and helped in remediation of critical vulnerabilities across the server fleet. He has also created the offline search functionality for wikis, usernames, hosts in a CLI using Rust and Python that would work in the case of an infra-wide failure of services at Facebook. Vishal has worked on automation of compliance burden by building an internal framework supporting the teams to pass US FTC and NPCI (Whatsapp payments) Audits. Vishal has previously worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Rubrik and Trifacta. At Rubrik, he worked as part of the Data Archival team responsible for managing backups to multiple cloud vendors and private data stores. He created a Kernel debug log collector using Scala for NFS/CIFS locations and integrated it with a periodically running job to reduce the time spent on RCA/debugging of the customer issues by 50% across the organization. Vishal worked on immutability of backups to protect against ransomware attacks honoring their SLA’s. He added support for high priority rehydration using GoLang and Scala from Microsoft Azure Archive tier storage that allows for 10X faster retrieval of data at higher costs. At Trifacta, he worked as part of the query optimizer team responsible for SQL generation for Snowflake and Google Big Query stores. Vishal added CustomSQL functionality in Trifacta using Java for snowflake stores that allows filtering the input data during ingestion for improved performance. He was responsible for the implementation of pushdown effort that led to performance improvements of 1300%-2000%. Vishal added support for functions not supported by Google BigQuery for advanced pushdown functionality using Javascript User Defined Functions. His work was featured in AWS Re:Invent.
