Vishal Raut is an experienced Software Development Manager at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with over 11 years of relevant experience. He is currently leading the Backup as a service (BaaS) team for Teradata Cloud, responsible for managing backups of public cloud Teradata customers. Vishal is redesigning and enhancing the application to support multiple cloud providers. With a background in building complex cloud services from scratch, Vishal has designed and automated the whole process of data movement which is being used by Teradata to move customer on-premise data into Teradata Managed Cloud. As a part of the core team member, he has contributed to the architecture design, direct requirements gathering from product managers, and identified and built new microservices using serverless lambda platform. Vishal has an extensive working experience in various technologies such as Java, Javascript, Python, C, Serverless, Solr, NodeJs, Hadoop/Cascading, SQL, MongoDB, AWS, Springboot, Nginx, Git, and Maven. He has also designed and developed a back-end web application using Nodejs for a mobile analytics platform, deployed MongoDB cluster, including sharding and replication, and built an Android SDK which asynchronously logs data to the server. In addition, Vishal has designed a search engine for a video aggregator platform using Apache Solr for more than 1 million records and contributed to developing an Android chat application that facilitated Data to SMS chat for the first time in the market. He has also built an Ad-hoc statistics system to generate on-demand reports using Hadoop/Cascading and AWS EMR, improving the time complexity by 50% and cost by 70%. Vishal has worked with various companies in the past, including Teradata, where he worked as a Staff Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer. At Teradata, Vishal provided Backup as a Service solution on cloud, which helps customers to manage the backups in self-service fashion. Currently, he is leading a team to deliver features end to end, using Nodejs on AWS/lambda, which includes requirement collection, design, develop, test, release, and customer interaction. Vishal holds a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Machine Learning from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology from Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya.
