Vishal Upadhyay is a technically motivated and quick learner who has nurtured his career mostly in startup environments. With over 12 years of relevant experience, he has the ability to build an idea to a quality product for quick validation. As an Engineering Leader and Coder, he has hands-on experience in shaping team members to work on long-term projects with collaboration and empathy. Currently, Vishal is the Chief Technology Officer at hipla, a programmatic ads company that specializes in a supply-side platform, demand-side platform, and impression forecasting. He has also worked as a Staff Software Engineer at Samsung, where he gained expertise in programmatic ads, supply-side platforms, demand-side platforms, and impression forecasting. As a Technical Lead at Zapr, he was a founding member of the OTT Viewership Detection team, where he built a team and products from scratch. He successfully enabled the detection of OTT content across multiple platforms, focusing on code maintainability, extensibility, deployment, and micro-service-oriented solutions. Vishal has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University and completed his HSC in Science from Govt HR Secondary School Tezu. He has expertise in a wide range of technologies, including Java, MySQL, Kafka, Spark, Mongo, Airflow, AWS, AWS Spot EC2, Git, Zookeeper, Beanstalk, Netty, Elasticsearch, and many more. He has worked as a Senior Software Engineer, Product Manager, Software Engineer, Designer, and Integration specialist, among other roles. Throughout his career, Vishal has been recognized for his achievements, including the creation of a demo system of OTT viewership systems, working on multiple microservices to create OTT libraries, and introducing type configs. He has also developed 100% type-safe batch matching pipeline fault-tolerant systems and worked to ensure early pattern detection in production deployments. Vishal is a skilled leader who believes in building trust, learning, sharing, caring, and other skill development techniques like discussion, documentation, and code review. He has excellent communication skills and is responsible for owning multiple microservices, contributing as an IC, discussing features, high-level design, technology decisions, and creating milestone plans. He is also responsible for guiding team members with feature development, owning the team's code review, deployment, and post-deployment checks, and delegating unplanned tasks.
