Vishrant Vasavada is a Software Engineer Technical Lead at Arista Networks with over 3 years of experience in the industry. He is responsible for developing routing protocols and network monitoring fabric for Arista's EOS (Extensible Operating System). He has previously worked as an engineering intern at Symantec where he built a multi-threaded automation testing framework from scratch for Symantec's Web Security Services product. Vishrant holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. During his time at UCLA, he worked on exploring Named Data Networking (NDN) architecture, a futuristic Internet Architecture, where the first class citizens are actually data names rather than IP addresses and content is fetched by sending interest packets instead of IP packets. His Master's thesis focused on developing a Private Distributed Ledger over NDN. At Arista, Vishrant has worked on developing routing protocol features for Arista's EOS with a focus on BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) and has developed Arista EOS components for Arista's DANZ Monitoring Fabric (DMF), a next-generation network packet broker. He has also developed several tooling features and scripts as part of hackathons that are now being used company-wide. He works closely with other engineering teams including the platform team and system/solution test team and is an active maintainer for several packages in Arista's codebase. He also helps with mentoring and training new hires. Vishrant's technical stack includes Software Engineering, Senior Software Engineering, test, Web, qa, Research Scientist, Python, and C. He has experience working with C/C++, Python, and Go. He has also worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Internet Research Laboratory at UCLA, where he worked on Distributed Ledger Technology over NDN and DDoS Mitigation in NDN under the supervision of Prof. Lixia Zhang.
