Vitya Alexandrov is a Lead Data Scientist at Nextdoor, with a passion for responsible and ethical AI. With a background in mathematical physics, Vitya has experience in a range of fields, including quantitative biology, cancer genetics, bioinformatics, image analysis, and neural networks. Prior to his current role, Vitya worked as a Data Scientist at Pixel Labs, Inc., where he was responsible for ensuring Hoodline did not miss any local news and trends. He has also held a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the Institute for Advanced Study, where he worked on topics such as brain image analysis and classification, topological data analysis, mathematical modeling of cell replication, bioinformatics, and neural networks. Vitya has a Master of Science degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Lomonosov Moscow State University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Rutgers University. He also completed a Data Science program at The Data Incubator. With 7.62 years of relevant experience, Vitya's tech stack includes research scientist, data scientist, AI, and neural networks. In his current role at Nextdoor, he supports feed and content creation teams to ensure the platform is user-friendly and engaging.
