Vivek Kannan is a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer with over 6 years of relevant experience in designing, experimenting, implementing, testing, shipping and monitoring highly scalable and reliable micro-services. He currently works at Freshworks as a Lead Software Engineer, where he is responsible for designing and maintaining the Freshworks Developer Platform. Vivek is a key contributor to Freshworks' Kafka Event Stream and worker fleet, which handles 10 million events an hour with low latency and sure delivery guarantees. He also works extensively on the primary Platform Service, which provides abstractions such as Data Store (AWS DynamoDB), OAuth2, Job Scheduling, RMI (AWS Lambda), HTTPS Proxy, and more. These features, along with the event stream, are leveraged by Freshworks' app developers to customize products to meet any arbitrary business requirements. Vivek is also responsible for designing and co-implementing cross-browser web components that provide secure iframe-based sandboxes for apps to run and support bi-directional messaging between the sandbox and the main window via MessageChannel APIs. He also works extensively on a "wrapper" around AWS Lambda that provides a sandboxed runtime for apps. The wrapper provides APIs similar to those in the web component for the apps to process events delivered by the event stream. As a technical lead for a team of 4, Vivek built a messaging integration platform that currently functions as a bi-directional sync between Slack and multiple internal products. The platform is generic enough to onboard other messaging tools such as Microsoft Teams and Whatsapp. Vivek has a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy. He has a strong technical background in Senior Software Engineering, AWS, test, Web, CI/CD, Microservices, qa, Kafka, Integration, NodeJS, Docker, MySQL, Jenkins, DevOps, and infra.
