Vivek KC is a TOGAF certified Enterprise Architect with over 16 years of experience in Infrastructure Consultation, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Automation, and DevOps. He is currently the Director of Engineering - SRE at Unacademy, where he is leading the SRE organization to ensure the platform's preparedness for the next phases in Ed-Tech. Vivek is passionate about mentoring SRE aspirants and inspiring them to give back to the community. He believes in the vision of enabling others to stand on their legs (or on hands if no legs) and making sure his workplace and people get better every day. He strongly advocates for building the culture first before the product and working on it collectively as a team. With his expertise in ML, Big Data, Cloud, Config Management, NoSQL, Messaging, SDLC, CI/CD, Pipeline as Code, Infrastructure as Code, Microservices, and Container Orchestration, Vivek performs PoC, Architecture, Design, and TDP work for sophisticated project implementation. He has experience working with various tech stacks, such as Redis, RabbitMQ, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, MongoDB, Elastic Search, Jenkins, and Search. Before joining Unacademy, Vivek worked at Apple, where he built a global SRE organization from the ground up for Infra/SaaS Ops by Tooling & Automation and drove 24x7 support by “the Sun model.” He also worked at Vera Security, where he set up the SRE/DevOps culture across the Engineering organization and architected for scale on Microservices: Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, Openshift. Vivek holds a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Software Systems from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and a BS in Information Systems from the same institution. He also has a Diploma in Telecommunication Technology from Kalliassery Model Polytechnic College, a PDC in 2nd Group - Science from Sir Syed College, and an SSLC from Naduvil High School.
