Vivek Krishnakumar is a highly skilled Co-Founder and Lead Full Stack Developer with a passion for creating online communities for people with chronic illnesses. He is currently working as the Co-Founder and Developer at betterdays, where he has built an online community for people to share experiences and learn about chronic illnesses. Vivek built a proof-of-concept in just six months using Angular as the front-end framework and MongoDB as the data store, enabling over 2,000 people with Fibromyalgia to share about their illnesses. Vivek has ideated new features, gathered requirements, and designed mockups using Sketch and Figma. He created a custom library of over 2000 medical conditions and treatments by executing SPARQL queries on the National Library of Medicine’s MeSH database and Wikidata. Vivek upgraded the backend architecture using NestJS, which made the codebase more manageable. He also integrated state management using NgRx and Apollo GraphQL to make local states more accessible. Furthermore, Vivek implemented Server-Side Rendering with Progressive Web App capabilities, which improved the first-contentful paint time of the application to less than 1 second. In addition, Vivek led Dev-ops and created multiple server environments with CI/CD capabilities through Heroku. He integrated analytics tools and implemented a system that collected fine-grain analytics, which enabled the team to map user behavior, monitor key drop-off points, and prioritize new features. Vivek built search functionality, push notifications, email integrations, notification, and activity streams. Before joining betterdays, Vivek was a Co-Founder and Developer at Syndio Health, where he worked on creating a community for people with chronic illnesses. He was also a Ruby on Rails Intern at Cerner, where he worked on creating a web application for Cerner employees to submit Dev talks for upcoming conferences built with Ruby On Rails. Vivek has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University. He has 6.87 years of relevant experience and is highly skilled in Ruby, CI/CD, Web, MongoDB, DevOps, Search, Frontend, Backend, and AngularJS.
