Vivek Kumar is a Technical General Manager at Samsung Research Institute with a total of 14 years of work experience in software development. He is currently leading a multimedia team of 25 members, responsible for secure content playback, widevine key provisioning, video codec, and voice engine. Vivek is an expert in secure content playback and multimedia framework, with hands-on experience in Widevine DRM, Mobicore, and QSEE Trustzone architecture. He is currently working on Mobicore and QSEE secure technology for playback of multimedia content in applications like Netflix, Amazon Prime video, and other VOD applications. He also has experience in VOIP and SIP protocol, having developed VOIP phones Nortel 12xx series and added support for call transfer, conferencing, and key expansion module. In terms of technical skills, Vivek is proficient in programming languages such as C/C++, Makefile, and Shell Script. He also has experience in secure OS/Trustzone, SOLID Design principles, and object-oriented design with C++. He is well-versed in network analysis tools like Wireshark and Android/Linux debug tools like ADB, GDB, Systrace, Perf, Dmalloc, Objdump, addr2line, and readelf. He has worked with IDEs such as Source Insight, Eclipse, and Visual Studio and has experience with version control systems like Git and Perforce. As the global owner of digital rights management for all Samsung devices, he works on codec, voice engine, and player porting and debugging for innovative and derived mobile phones. He also mentors and onboard new members of the Media Service team in codec, player, DRM (secure content playback and key protection), and voice engine. Vivek has previously worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Senior Chief Engineer at Samsung, where he managed teams of 12 members and was responsible for code review, code design, development, and debugging. He was also the global owner and decision-maker of digital rights management (secure content playback) and was responsible for designing and developing trusted applications and drivers.
