Vivek Mittal is a highly skilled Co-Founder at Kolo with over 12 years of relevant experience in building systems at scale. He possesses a deep understanding of various programming languages such as Go, Ruby, Java, and has expertise in using technologies like Kafka, Storm, Redis, Postgres, and Elasticsearch. Vivek has worked with several renowned organizations in the past, including gojek, where he served as a Principal Engineer (Architect) and Engineering Manager. During his tenure, he was responsible for the entire product's uptime, helping multiple teams with implementing requirements & tech optimizations. He played a crucial role in repurposing GoMart as a merchant first product from an SKU first focus, designing data sync systems, and scaling & optimizing the system to support flash sales with spiky throughput north of 1000 RPS on discovery & 500 RPS on ordering systems. Vivek also mentored the team formally as well as informally, helping them optimize the discovery experience by mentoring on relevance and search ranking. Vivek has also led the effort to build GoMart, GoShop, and GoFresh, collaborating across multiple functions - leadership, business, merchants, ops & obviously engineering. He architected the entire product vision, starting from a monolith to optimize for speed to the breakdown into 5+ microservices, choosing the tech stacks, and mentoring multiple engineers to become tech leads, performance management of engineers, etc. Vivek has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer Science from itm and Senior Secondary education in Science with Mathematics from Miss Hill School. He has a diverse tech stack, including Redis, Kafka, Postgres, Ruby, Elastic Search, RabbitMQ, Search, Integration, Infra, Java, Clojure, and Microservices.
