Vivek Mittal is a highly skilled Software Engineer at Samsung Electronics with a passion for deep learning and its application. He has 2+ years of experience in machine learning and software development, and has developed machine learning models that have won him machine learning competitions. Vivek is an alumnus of IIT Mandi and has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Vivek's expertise lies in computer vision, natural language processing, and robot learning. He has conducted research in these areas and has developed machine learning models using Python & PyTorch/Tensorflow. He also has knowledge of ROS, robotics simulation (PyBullet, Gazebo), and project management tools like GitHub and Docker, which complement his machine learning skills. Vivek has worked as a Student Researcher at Technische Universität Darmstadt, where he worked on Robot Learning for Full Body Control (Base + Arm) of Mobile Robots. He developed Manipulations & Navigation tasks for training the Tiago Robot using Reinforcement Learning techniques and benchmarked existing reinforcement learning algorithms for their novel tasks. He has also worked as a Research Engineer at Siemens, where he developed a prototype algorithm for a mistake-proofing system that uses Visual and Text feedback for assisting workers in industrial settings. He performed research on multi-modal Transformer models and designed a novel combination of Transformer models for Scene Understanding using multi-modal inputs. He also extended the code using Horovod for large-scale distributed training with multiple GPUs.
