Vivek Ranjan is a highly skilled Software Developer with expertise in Python, Django, PyQt, SQL, Linux, Perl CGI, GIT, and Agile methodologies. With almost 7 years of relevant experience, he has a deep understanding of software development processes and has worked on various projects that have honed his skills. Currently working as a Software Engineer Specialist at GE Transportation, Vivek is responsible for working on RailDOCS, a legacy software developed in Python, Django, PyQt, Perl CGI, and SQL. This software is monitored and regulated by FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) and is being used by US and Canadian railways to perform inspections on signals, tracks, bridges, and yards. His responsibilities include handling web app-related tasks in Django framework, creating models, configuring apps, urls, managing forms, views, and templates, performing SQL operations on the existing database, creating complex queries in MySQL/Perl to generate reports, and coordinating with team members for test and quality and production server script deployment. Vivek has also worked as a Customer Support Executive at Jet Airways, where he handled exempted and VIP customers and solved their queries, providing them with smooth assistance. He has an Engineer’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, and a PG Diploma in Advanced Computing from CDAC Bangalore. In addition to his technical skills, Vivek is experienced in Docker, Bash Scripting, VMware, Virtual Box, NSIS Scripting, and Windows server. He has also worked on the development of standalone offline apps in the Python PyQt framework, used Docker in WSL to set up web apps, and configured Daemon and CRON jobs in Linux. He has a strong understanding of 3-tier (MVT) architecture comprising of Data Access Layer, Business Layer, and UI layer. Vivek is a quick learner, a team player, and has a passion for technology.
