Vivek has a strong background in software engineering, test automation, and SDET, and has worked with a variety of technologies and platforms over the years. His technical skills include expertise in Kafka, GCP, and infrastructure, among others. Prior to joining Shopify, Vivek worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Scotiabank, where he was responsible for implementing highly scalable and fault-tolerant real-time event streaming as a company-wide platform using Confluent Kafka and GCP Pub-Sub. He also engineered real-time event sourcing and data transformation pipelines, led teams in delivering high-throughput and low-latency solutions, and architected solutions for enterprise services. Additionally, Vivek designed and developed a test automation suite for the streaming platform, which drastically reduced regression testing time. Throughout his career, Vivek has demonstrated a strong ability to work collaboratively with product owners and architects to understand and analyze technical requirements and ensure end-to-end product delivery in an Agile environment. He has also integrated with fraud analytics to prevent fraudulent transactions in millions of dollars and automated infrastructure deployment.
