Viveka Kulharia
Computer Vision + Generative AI at Cruise LLC
About
Viveka Kulharia is a highly motivated PhD candidate in Computer Vision at the University of Oxford, with a keen interest in cutting-edge research in computer vision and machine learning for real-world applications. She has authored research papers that have been accepted at prestigious conferences such as CVPR, NeurIPS, ECCV, and AAAI, among others. Currently, Viveka is a DPhil (PhD) student in the Torr Vision Group at the University of Oxford, working under the supervision of Prof. Philip H. S. Torr and Dr. Puneet K. Dokania. Prior to joining Oxford, she worked as a Research Fellow at Microsoft Research India. She completed her undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Viveka has gained valuable experience in her field through her work with various companies. She is currently a Research and Development Intern at Niantic Inc., where she is working with Dr. Eric Brachmann, Dr. Aron Monszpart, Dr. Sara Vicente, Dr. Guillermo Garcia-Hernando, and Prof. Gabriel Brostow. Her work involves 3D scene understanding, which is useful for augmented reality, and creating datasets and a novel network architecture. Previously, Viveka worked as an Applied Scientist at Amazon, where she worked with Dr. Siddhartha Chandra, Dr. Amit Agrawal, and Dr. Ambrish Tyagi. Her work focused on weakly supervised image segmentation, and her research was accepted at ECCV 2020 with the title "Box2Seg: Attention Weighted Loss and Discriminative Feature Learning for Weakly Supervised Segmentation." She also worked as a Research Intern at the Technical University of Munich, where she worked with Arnab Ghosh and Prof. Matthias Niessner. Her work involved predicting the coarse 3D shape and colors of an object given its image from a single viewpoint, rendering images, creating voxel data from available meshes using MLib, and getting finer and diverse predictions. Viveka's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Computer Vision and Machine Learning from the University of Oxford, which she is set to complete by December 2021. She also holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Her tech stack includes skills such as Research Scientist, Computer Vision, ML, and Image Segmentation
