Walker H. is a product-minded Software Engineer with over 7 years of substantial industry experience in web frontend and backend development. He is currently working as a Staff Software Engineer at Airbnb, where he has built many features end-to-end for search, including novel and complex UI components. He has also launched and scaled Airbnb Plus, working on all aspects of the guest booking flow. Walker is the Tech Lead for a team of more than 20 engineers working on the Flexible Destinations product, which included building a substantial new search experience and shipping it to guests globally. He is focused on building a fun and easy-to-use guest experience. Before joining Airbnb, Walker worked at brightroll (acquired by yahoo!) as a Software Engineer, where he was the JavaScript lead for a new VPAID 2.0 ad unit that plays millions of video and interactive ads every day. He also built some of the support for the ad unit in BrightRoll's ad serving stack and worked on other assorted back- and front-end projects. Walker was hired by BrightRoll just after the Q4 2014 acquisition was announced. He also worked as a Software Engineering Intern at retailmenot, inc., where he developed a responsive, single-page web application from front to back working with other engineers, designers, and project managers to create a beautiful, usable, and powerful product. Walker has a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science from the University of Illinois, where he graduated in 2015. He also attended The Urban School of San Francisco from 2007 to 2011.
