Wei Gao is a highly experienced software architect with over 20 years of experience in the industry. With a deep understanding of object-oriented design/programming, multi-thread programming, and large volume data processing, Wei has developed great architecture skills with hands-on programming experience. Currently working as a Software Engineer at Tableau Software, Wei has been responsible for developing and implementing software solutions that meet the company's needs. Prior to joining Tableau Software, Wei worked as a Software Engineer at Salesforce, where he led a team to redesign the entire infrastructure based on Docker Swarm cloud for the Salesforce data exchange platform, meeting scalable, extendable, and highly secured goals. He designed and implemented an orchestrator that manages component dependencies for the data exchange platform in Docker Swarm cloud and a cloud scheduler that provides reliable job scheduling in a cloud environment with minimum dependencies. Wei also designed and led the development team to implement a normalization/indexer framework for the data exchange platform. Wei also worked as a Staff Engineer at VMware, where he designed and implemented many key features for the virtual network security product. This included a user identity engine, system runtime profiling framework, syslog exporter, JNI wrapper for communication with Guest VMs, vmci socket for Java, and more. He also designed and implemented cluster management for the virtual network management plane and implemented a NoSQL data access layer as part of the infrastructure layer for the virtual network management plane. Wei holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from an undisclosed institution and has a strong tech stack that includes Software Engineering, Docker, Senior Software Engineering, Normalization, Infra, Salesforce, Java, and NoSQL.
