Wennan Zhao is a Senior Algorithm Engineer at Johnson & Johnson, with a passion for combining healthcare problems with software development and engineering skills to contribute to the medical field and make an everyday impact. Wennan has a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Penn State University, where he developed a complete image-guided bronchoscopy system for planning and guiding doctors during peripheral lung cancer diagnosis. At Johnson & Johnson, Wennan is responsible for analyzing and testing navigation and localization algorithms with multi-modal data, designing and developing metrics, scripts, and infrastructure for automated analysis of algorithms and system performance, developing new algorithms and bringing improvements in performance and robustness of existing algorithms into C++ product level software in an FDA regulated environment, and collaborating with research scientists, SW engineers, and robotics engineers to transfer solutions into Monarch products and applications. Wennan's technical skills include C/C++, Python, Matlab, OpenGL, NVIDIA CUDA, Qt, MFC, Linux, OpenCV, VTK, Eigen, CMake, Git, TensorFlow, Keras, and ITK. He has also developed a Stock Chart and Plotting Tool, available on Github, which is a simple stock visualization framework developed under Linux environment with CMake and Qt. Wennan's education history includes a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Penn State University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University, and a B.S. in Geographical Information System from Wuhan University.
