Will Friebel is a passionate software engineer, educator, and lifelong learner with over 10 years of relevant experience. Currently working at Uber as a Software Engineer, Will has a strong background in web-based technologies, software engineering, and mathematics education. Prior to joining Uber, Will worked as a Computer Science and Mathematics Teacher at Palo Alto High School, where he created and taught a full-stack web development course for advanced computer science students. He also designed and executed a new instructional program focusing on standards-based grading, cyclical re-assessment, and a growth mindset, and led a team that planned and executed the school's annual TEDx conference. Will was also a member of the PAUSD K-12 Computer Science Curriculum Design Advisory Committee, where he advocated for the increase of computer science offerings for all age levels in the district. Before joining Palo Alto High School, Will worked as a Mathematics Teacher at Orchard School District, where he learned industry-standard practices in instruction, assessment, and classroom management. He instructed eighth-grade students in Algebra. Will holds a Master's Degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from the University of California, a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from Whitman College, and completed a software engineering program at Dev Bootcamp. With a strong tech stack that includes Software Engineering, Web, Javascript, NodeJS, and MongoDB, Will is a dedicated and skilled professional who is always eager to learn and grow in his field.
