Will Hastings is a Senior Frontend Engineer at Meta, with over 11 years of relevant experience. He is passionate about building user-facing applications and focuses on front-end development, particularly with React and modern JavaScript. Will has also leveraged backend technologies, including Hack, Ruby on Rails, SQL, and GraphQL, to implement business logic and APIs to power web and mobile apps. His primary areas of interest include front-end performance, API design, web app security, accessibility, UI component development, and single-page application architectures. Will is always striving to stay current with the latest industry news on JavaScript and front-end development. At Meta, his current company, Will is currently working on reusable web UI components, libraries, and tools that empower product engineers to build high-quality, consistent, and accessible user experiences. Previously, he was a tech lead and the sole frontend engineer on a team working to help small and medium-sized businesses get more value from their presences on the Meta family of apps. Before joining Meta, Will worked as a Staff Software Engineer at Omada Health, where he built their new mental health product using React Native and Rails. He also provided leadership across Omada's engineering department in the areas of accessibility and JavaScript application architecture and best practices. Will has a degree in Ruby, Rails, & JavaScript from App Academy, an Associate of Science (AS) in Web Programming from Berkeley City College, and a High School Diploma from St. Joseph Notre Dame High School. Will's tech stack includes Frontend, Javascript, Web, Mobile, Ruby, Backend, ui, Software Engineer, SQL, Senior Software Engineer, qa, Redux, and React Native. He has contributed to the design pattern and UI component library and has mentored other engineers in front-end techniques and best practices through pair programming and code review.
