Willem Spruijt is an accomplished engineer and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience building products that enhance the customer experience. He has a passion for creating products that people use every day and is fascinated by how technology is making the world a better place. As a startup founder, Willem has learned the importance of focusing on what matters most, which is shipping products that customers actually care about. He believes in finding the right balance between listening to customers and applying a vision to take the product to the next level. At Yunoo, an online tool for providing insight into spending habits and setting budget goals, Willem and his team built a product that customers loved for its simplicity and was awarded Dutch website of the year in 2010. At Fosbury, Willem built a platform that bridged the gap between Apple Passbook/Google Wallet and traditional brick-and-mortar stores. He joined Uber in 2015 and has learned how to apply his startup experience at immense scale, processing over $20B in payments in 2016 and crossing the 5B trip mark in May 2017. He scaled the Amsterdam payments team from 7 engineers to over 100 in just two years. Willem's specialties include entrepreneurship, payments, software architecture, and building teams. He is a senior software engineer with expertise in mobile and web development. He is currently working as an Applicatie Ontwikkelaar at AFAS Personal and has previously worked as a Co-founder at Yunoo and a Member of the Supervisory Board at Netherware.
