William Vo is a Senior Software Engineer at Visa with a passion for distributed system technology. With almost 9 years of relevant experience, he is a back-end developer at heart. William has worked at Works Applications Co. Ltd. as a software engineer in two different departments, the Base Technology Department - Autoindex team, and the E-commerce Product Department - Promotion team. In his role at the Base Technology Department, William developed and maintained an indexing framework for Cassandra database, which provided a wide range of indexing features for product development. He also ensured data consistency for the full-text search service by utilizing message queue for asynchronous inter-service communication and cluster-computing framework for offline batch job in data migration. William supported and advised the product team on using the Autoindex framework and achieving proper Cassandra data modeling to get the best indexing performance. In his role at the E-commerce Product Department, William designed and developed the Promotion micro-service for the E-commerce product. He implemented various types of discount, coupon, customer point, product bundle promotion, and a full rule system validation. William collaborated and supported other teams on using the API documentation and consuming messages for product listing, cart calculation, and order processing. William's tech stack includes Cassandra, Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Elasticsearch, Spring, AWS, Kubernetes, Google Closure, Prometheus & Grafana, and Ansible. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Infocommunication Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in 2014.
