Wyatt Wismer is a Software Developer at The D. E. Shaw Group with a passion for solving problems. With 2.68 years of relevant experience, he has worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Microsoft on two different teams, Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Azure Data Factory. During his time at Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Wyatt worked on enabling users to embed external scripts, short programs written in Python or R, into their Data Warehouse queries. He also extended the grammar supported by SQL Data Warehouse in the process. Additionally, he parallelized the execution of external scripts based on parameters provided by the user and the underlying data distribution of the input query. At Azure Data Factory, Wyatt designed a filter to validate incoming API requests against an OpenAPI specification. He used the filter to find inconsistencies between the latest specification and existing tests. Wyatt holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Software Engineering from McMaster University, which he completed in December 2021. His technical skills include expertise in Software Engineering, SQL, Data Warehouse, Python, and Azure.
