Xuan Gong is a highly skilled Staff Engineer at Lyft, with over 12 years of relevant experience in distributed systems, distributed storage, Hadoop, and combinatorial optimization algorithms. As a Hadoop Committer and PMC at ASF, Xuan is actively involved in the development of the Hadoop ecosystem, specifically Apache YARN. Prior to joining Hortonworks, Xuan was a software development engineer in the ADP Cobalt Group. He pursued his computer science Ph.D. degree from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2010. Xuan's expertise is not limited to Hadoop, as he has also worked with Salesforce, Kubernetes, Spark, and Big Data, among others. He has held various roles in the past, including Principal Engineer at Salesforce, where he served as the Tech lead of Big Data Compute Infrastructure team, and Staff Engineer at Alibaba Group (Damo Academy), where he worked on artificial intelligence platforms and K8S infrastructure, specifically resource scheduling and GPU-pooling to improve resource utilization. Currently, Xuan is the Tech Lead of Compute team at Lyft, where he develops, provides, and supports a reliable, scalable Kubernetes platform for all Lyft engineering. He is also responsible for overseeing the work of other engineers and ensuring that the team meets its goals and objectives.
