Yao Wang is a Senior Software Engineer in ML Platform at Waymo. With 7.37 years of relevant experience, he has worked in various roles in the technology industry. He has an extensive background in machine learning infrastructure and platform, and has worked on cutting-edge machine learning compilation tech stack. Prior to joining Waymo, Yao worked at Amazon Web Services Deep Learning as a Software Development Engineer (Tech Lead). He was the core designer and implementer of AWS SageMaker Neo, a service to compile and accelerate machine learning model inference. He also worked on graph-level optimization, kernel tuning, and analyzing on heterogeneous hardware platforms. As part of his open-source contribution, he was a PPMC of Apache TVM. Yao has published several papers on optimizing CNN model inference on CPUs and a unified optimization approach for CNN model inference on integrated GPUs. Yao completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechantronic Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He also holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
