Zack Leman is a highly experienced software engineer with a product-driven mindset and a passion for designing, building, and maintaining modern software architectures. With over 7 years of experience, he has a proven track record of delivering scalable and distributed systems in the cloud and leading engineering teams. Currently working as a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon, Zack is responsible for building AWS Honeycode. Prior to this, he worked at Well Health Inc. as a Staff Backend Software Engineer and Senior Backend Software Engineering Lead. At Well, he led various projects, including designing and implementing a durable dispatching mechanism, redesigning the API layer of the Electronic Medical Record Integration Service using GraphQL, and implementing a distributed cache layer to reduce API latency. Zack is proficient in a wide range of technologies, including TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Go, Java, Terraform, AWS, Distributed systems, Observability & Infrastructure As Code. He has also worked with various databases such as Amazon Athena, Redis, and Postgres. Zack holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience and Computer Science from Bowdoin College and completed the Business Bridge Program from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He is a quick learner, a team player, and has a strong work ethic. He is passionate about introducing best practices on reliability, monitoring, and alerting to improve the overall quality of the product.
